Another quick mention for my small team is the welcoming back of Wild Bill. Before the HQ relocation, I brought him back in. With the Retaliator, I'm sort of building a small air-cavalry component within my team.
I'm sticking with my 28-man team rule, too, so who is out?
Repeater. He's a figure that was on the fence before, and I even evaluated "the need" for three "machine gunners" before. Always evolving, even after I thought I had things nailed down!

Slower going than previously thought!
The new HQ has a ton of little real-life projects to. They are manageable, but prioritizing which to do first is overwhelming; and they will take time to get to. But this week..., to have not only vehicle registration due, along with vehicle insurance, and to top it off, needing fuel...., well, it ended up zapping the priorities (and some cash) for this two-week period. (and to have a super squeaky squeak coming off the vehicles serpentine belt adds that real life stress of having a car needing some possible repairs.)
So, a little real life stress built up here, but speaking of serpentine, that brings me back in a full loop to the topic of GIJoe. And now back to GIJoe....
Which I thought I would add in a couple of pics of my corner of the universe, the actual "HQ" HQ location today.
I think previously used spaces are fun to imagine what they were used for. That outlet on the wall, I'm guessing was going to be where a big freezer (other side of basement) was going to go, but there's no way to get it past the furnace here, so the outlet you see is not powered at all here. I have no power besides the light bulb just beyond the duct top-center of the picture. However, I have the two windows! This is huge, plus the one opens.
You will also notice the many green Rubbermaid containers that have popped up in other photos in previous posts. They are not all full of GIJoe stuff, but hopefully now that I am more permanent I can unpack most everything in these Rubbermaids. (and buy more GIJOE stuff. :o ) It's pretty much my life's accumulations right there in that stack.
I thought this would be a cool corner, too, below you can see how I would enter (the furnace is just left in the photo). I guess it really comes to how I want to set up shop now, which I am totally undecided on. Do you have any input?
I rearranged the previous HQ several times. At the old HQ, I had considered not even unpacking most of the GIJoe stuff, at that time I had about 10-15 times MORE GIJoe stuff. But eventually, I did unpack it. I wanted to enjoy my stuff, ya know?
At the old HQ, I went from more modest corner-stack-like full shelves, to almost entire basement encompassing table layouts. Finding a balance where I felt comfortable was, and is a challenge. My bracket-shelves were put on just about every wall. (And that statement sort of serpentine-belts its way back to that whole real-life influence with priorities and what-have-you.)
What do you think? Should I run shelves down the wall with the wood studs? Should I panel over the wood studs first?
What do you think of the green paint on the walls? I have no idea if there are any water or moisture issues, do I risk putting anything near the walls at this point?
Or do I stick with my free standing plastic and steel shelves (which I was hoping to use for tools and utility type stuff) for now?
I just don't know.
What I do know is that I want to bust my 'Joes out. It's only been a couple/ few weeks without. I think I'm kind of excited to play some since Toyfair news is starting to get out. That new Tomahawk has me very excited. Yeah, I have one, but it is the core of my GIJoe teams vehicles movement right now, it is THE global workhorse for MY team. How cool would it be to get this new one, especially with the folding rotor blades! The new Tomahawk would hold up better in the hands of any "junior joes" that operate it, too!
Would it be too "spoiled" of me to get two so I can really transport my team effectively (remember 28-man team!)? Even a third one for the "junior Joe?" Man, that would be a big purchase right there, at three of them? Should I sell my original '86 then, would I get even what I pay for one new one now?
I'm small potatoes with my collection. But, from the news I read, it looks like I have until this August to save up. Slowly, but surely?

HQ re-located!
Well, I'm at the new HQ now. The old HQ (a.k.a. the old basement) will be missed, it was a sun-less corner that was not the most warm space at times, but it gave home to my Joes for many years. Many, many collection changes and even collector (me!) changes happened in that space.
But it was never "my" space, however, at the new HQ, it is my space now!
It will be some time before the new HQ is squared away, and even then it will no doubt be in a constant state of rearrangement for years to come (as it was for years prior!). I would like to get started on it right now, but other priorities exist, which under circumstances will also be slow-going.
For the new HQ, the space will also be subterranean (basement), and needs some lighting work. On the plus side there are TWO windows, one which opens (at least it looks like it should). I hope to custom build a small desk and I will incorporate my same old bracket shelves that I have had for almost twenty years now.
I would like to start custom vehicle project ideas I have in my head, as well, almost a model shop set-up in the long run.
For now, it will be slowly and surely.
