Back around 2000, "Icebreaker" became my online Joe representative, of sorts. An obvious jump off the use of the "Cutter" codename as the GIJOE teams only USCG member, I wanted to create a second member from the USCG for the team. The file cards I make up will change in my head a little bit here and there, and sometimes a lot. In some ways I wanted to infuse the USAF special forces role into the character, sort of a solo operator that really works with so many other military and law enforcement teams, compliments them, and adds value to missions.
As is, here are some variations on the write-ups and doodles for Icebreaker:

Enlisted USAF airlift, applied for flight school, denied several times due to vision requirement. Eventually accepted into USAF pararescue program. After years of overseas PJ support missions and continual denial of USAF pilot training, Icebreaker switched enlistment to the USCG hopefully for a better chance at a pilots seat. Initial station: PSU* operating Defender class boats N.Y.. Subsequent duty stations: polar icebreaking (aerial recon./ arctic pararescue), upper great lakes maritime law enforcement, Appalachian SAR, USCG/DEA joint patrol Gulf of Mexico.

Icebreaker just wanted to fly, in the USAF he was able to take every flight seat except the pilots. He tried his flight luck with the Coast Guard, and ended up doing everything else but piloting! The highly varied skill set and special operations experience made Icebreaker a natural fit for the GIJOE team.

Rescuing someone from a hairy, scary situation is one thing. Add in horrid weather in remote locations at night it gets tougher. Toss in squads of Vipers looking for the same person, that's what Icebreaker is jumping into...
